Massage therapy
Massage therapy has been long overlooked as an effective method of healing and wellness. We recognize the value and results massage therapy gives to patients. Along with general massage therapy, we offer in the following treatments:

Reflexology
Swedish Hot Stone Massage
Japanese Hot Stone Massage
Myofascial Release
Swedish Massage
Deep Tissue Massage
Sports Massage

Reflexology

Reflexology focuses on stimulating the reflexes of the foot, hand and ear through manipulation. Stimulation of these reflexes relaxes and normalizes functions in the body to relieve tension and promote relaxation. In turn, this can improve blood circulation, lymph drainage, assist in the elimination of toxins and strengthen the immune system. Penny Nelson is a certified Reflexologist.

Hot Stone Massage

Grand Traverse Physical Therapy has recently introduced the Hot Stone Massage technique. Hot Stone Massage uses the application of heat (140 degrees F) and subsequent cooling to promote psychological and physical relaxation. The stones act to also increase circulation and metabolism.

Myofascial Release Therapy

Myofascial Release Therapy combines sustained pressure to the body’s connective tissues with gentle massage to help eliminate pain and restore motion. Myofascial Release techniques are utilized in a wide range of settings and diagnoses.

Generalized, acute and chronic pain
